Publications
The world of literary publication is one defined by a narrow set of traditions and rules, and yet it is also a world that is rapidly changing with technology and social expectations on what constitutes professional quality creative writing. Although I personally welcome these shifts and find the democratization of cultural exchange a gift to be celebrated, I also recognize the perceived vanity of believing that rich and rewarding literary communities can be created by anyone, anywhere, without the traditional gate keepers of industrial publishing houses.
Because of that I will separate solicited/submitted publications from those published independently through underground presses. Not because I think less of one kind of publishing than another, but because I am proud of the 15 years I have spent cultivating underground literary environments and I do not want to hide that work within a generic list of publication that treats a work separate from the form in which the reader experiences it.
